Yes. It is March as I type this holiday catch up. But bear with me. It is almost over!
On New Years, our church rents the ice rink, so we spend part of our day ice skating. We always have a great time.
I came home early with my nephew and the other boys were there with Grandma. I had a special surprise to get ready and I enlisted my nephew.
He had a great time melting chocolate for our fondue surprise.
Meanwhile, I chopped up fruit and arranged plates with all sorts of dipping goodies….strawberries, bananas, oranges, apples, and marshmallows.
Got the table set.
One little boy looked on with anticipation! He was so excited to try this new “fondue”.
I let the boys get started while we waited for the ice skaters to return.
(Oh, and don’t worry, that pointy fondue fork was confiscated from this little guy)
The new fondue tradition was a HUGE hit!
After some chocolate dipping, we added peanut butter to the melted chocolate mix.
Oh heavenly!
Once the dipping died down, we moved to the next room for our countdown surprise. (a countdown to 8 PM)
Eric had trapped balloons in the ceiling in trash bags. There were pieces of yarn hanging down so the kids could rip the bags apart at the correct time.
Let the countdown begin…
3….2….1….
It was a memorable night! We had such a great time. There was lots of laughing and fun!
I think the fondue tradition is a keeper!

I love traditions and this sounds like a "keeper" for sure. The looks of pure joy says it all.
What fun!! I love the new traditions you added in! Did they all stay up to midnight?
What fun pictures! Our family has a fondue New Year's tradition, too. We might have to steal that balloon idea, though. ;-)
