C (age 21 months): Meal
Real Word: Oatmeal

C: Mind me, K?
Real words: Remind me, Ok?

(one of those direct repeats...it was cute)

D (age 4) attends a preschool class on Fridays at our co-op. He is working on an ABC craft book that I will receive at the end of the year. My friend, Colette, was in the classroom while he was working...

Ms Colette: D, I really like the tree (craft) you made.

D: Thank you. I made it for my Mommy

Ms C: Your Mommy is going to love it.

D: No she won't.

Ms C: Oh I am sure she will love it. She loves everything you make.

D: Nope. She doesn't like anything I make. (With a smirk on his face!)

I take back all of the horrible things I THOUGHT about the parents of the school kids I taught....cause who knows what someone would think of me if they heard this one...LOL!

We had a celebration dinner for K (age 8) who is DONE with braces on her legs. We had a toast and she wanted to make the toast...

Thank you to God for helping me to stop walking on my toes. Cheers!

The end...or the beginning?

Dear iPhone,

I miss you. Well, I missed you more a few weeks ago, but the feelings of loss still linger at times.

We had a great two years, didn't we? I still remember the night you became mine.

Every ounce of hype was true and I wasn't disappointed.

Did I need something? There WAS an app for that.

From timing my contractions to helping me know the distance to the next rest stop on a long trip...you were there.

And now you aren't available to me anymore...

I admit that I am behind on my emails during the day now. I haven't gotten information the instant it was sent. And I have fallen out of touch with facebook now that I can't search it while bored for 30 seconds at any given moment.

I know we were doing great, so why did our relationship have to come to an end?

Because while you offer so much, you also take.

You take my attention. You take my moments. You take my eyes off the people in front of me.

And I was too willing to give.

I admit that. I found myself giving you my time too often.

Now I want it back.

You see, there are five other people in my house. And myriads of friends in my life. Neighbors. Parents. Family.

And they want my attention. They deserve my eyes looking at them when I am with them.

And the moments with these four....

I know they are just slipping away.

So the rumors you have heard are true. You have been replaced by a very dumb phone. It can't email. It can't facebook. There are no apps for anything.

The salesman thought I was a very dumb crazy buyer.

But I think I was pretty smart.

K was talking to her friend across the street. She later told me...

I told Maggie about our house and she said that her house is never a catastrophe.

And the Winner is...

Well, y'all didn't make it very easy to do the random number thing.

Some of you left one comment stating that you did all four things. So if I went by comment number, you would only have one entry.

Others left additional comments that weren't "entry" comments, so they would have had extra by accident.

So, I had to write ALL of your names out on a separate sheet of paper, numbering each entry you actually had. So rest assured, it was a fair competition :)

That made 62 entries.

And the WINNER, according to random.org, is....

Here are your random numbers:

23
Timestamp: 2011-03-14 02:11:16 UTC

#23 is AMY WAECHTER who left entries under her hubby, Kirk's name! Amy has 48 hours to "claim" her prize! Congrats Amy!

Thanks to all for entering! If you didn't win, head on over and use that coupon code (notbefore710off) for your discount before it is too late!

Shabby Apple Dress Giveaway

I love a good dress. One that fits well, looks good, and is fresh and fun.

But that can be hard to find. And every year at this time I have to search for a dress for Mother’s Day and Easter. And most years I come up blank.

Then I was contacted by the company, Shabby Apple, about doing a dress giveaway, so I checked out their site! Immediately I was struck by the beauty of the dresses and unique styles available at Shabby Apple.

Dresses from Shabby Apple

The women that began the company state that their goal is…

“A return to what dresses were always meant to be — a one-piece outfit. No need to add anything...no tank tops, no cardigans, nothing (except accessories, of course!).”

Without a doubt, the dresses from Shabby Apple have achieved the original goal of the company. I just love their beautiful looks!

Of course, my favorite dress is the GIVERNY dress. I am dying to own this dress for Easter and Mother’s Day this year. It just looks so easy and so fun! And I love the colors.

Not only does Shabby Apple sell beautiful women's dress, but they also offer unique maternity dresses and little girls dresses.

In addition to the variety of styles and designs at Shabby Apple, they also provide a great tool to help you find your perfect fit! And with each design, there is a section for customer comments so that women can share their experiences with that exact dress. This was extremely helpful!

Finally, Shabby Apple donates 5 percent of the company’s net sales to Unitus. Unitus is a non-profit organization that accelerates access to life-changing financial services for those at the bottom of the economic pyramid. Every $100 donation provides at least 20 women with access to financial services - and the chance to live a life without poverty. What an incredible way to help prevent the problem of human trafficking!

Now, for the giveaway that you have been waiting for! Shabby Apple has offered to give one lucky reader the unique Cider dress.

I think my favorite part of this lovely dress is the zipper! The purple zipper in the back is just such a perfect touch!

Of course, in the meantime, Shabby Apple has offered ALL of my readers a 10% off discount.

Just use the coupon code: notbefore710off at checkout! You can click on the button below and head over to shop and save!

You can have up to FOUR entries by doing one of more of the following: (Leave one separate comment for each of the steps that you take)

1. Head over to Shabby Apple’s site and check it out. Come back here and leave me a comment on THIS POST telling me your favorite dress or accessory from Shabby Apple.

While studying Guatemala and discussing physical features...

T (age 6): (randomly announces) I don't know how many babies I am going to have.

Mom: Well, most 6 year olds don't. You'll figure those things out when you are older and married.

T: Yeah, but I wonder if there are eggs in my belly right now. Is there one or two?

Mom: Well, all women's bodies have eggs to make babies. In fact, you have millions of eggs in your body.

T: (eyes VERY wide) You mean I am going to have thousands of babies???

Mom: No. Not all of the eggs will become babies.

T: What happens to them?

Uh........sigh......I knew body changes was coming in health, but I didn't think it would be during a Guatemala discussion with all siblings present.

*Note: I simply told her that your body gets rid of the ones that don't become babies. That seemed to satisfy her for now, but I think a discussion is coming.
