Loving their Legos

My boys LOVE their legos.

Me?  I have a love/hate thing going for the tiny colored rectangles.

Part of the problem is the way my boys play with them.

They don’t build or create structures.

They dump each and every single one out on the floor in a big pile.  Then they use them as their “trash” to dig and dump and move around with their trucks.

It is awfully cute to watch them play together.  They make fabulous sound effects and they have a blast.

I tell myself that one day they WILL build structures and I’ll miss this non-organized chaos of legos.  Because structure building will bring other frustrations.

So in the meantime, most days, they get away with it.  Because mommy loves the moments when it buys her some peace.

But there are other days that I know the pile of legos will send me over the edge.

And on those days I simply hide the container.

Hmmm… I don’t know where those legos went…

They are so cute! My son plays with Legos much the same way. His sister builds things for him, but he just puts them in his dump truck. :)

I read somewhere that you can lay a sheet under them and then you can gather the Legos into the center of the sheet and store that that way. Haven't tried with Legos, but it works great for Barbies! :)

I understand. That's all I can say. Legos are here to stay and your relationship with them will always be love/hate. But mostly love!

I hate LEGOS. I don't want to step on them, help my boys find the specific piece they are looking for. That's why they live at Grandma's house and the boys go there to play with them! So thankful for a totally cool mom who lets me have playroom part 2 at her house only 10 minutes away!

I have to echo the sheet comment above. All of my kids are Lego fans, and here's the way we deal with them. BEFORE they dump, they must have a sheet/blanket/tablecloth on the floor. When they are done, I bundle up and dump back into the bucket whatever is on the sheet. THEY clean up whatever went off the sheet. Easy solution AND motivation for them to stay in the "boundaries."

Cute:) Love the way they play with them AND that they are brothers playing together;)

My girls play with the Legos, too!! The Legos go into the pots, pans and baby doll bottles.

I have a love/hate thing for those tiny ones, too:)

Legos are the greatest thing to ever happen to my 10 year old autistic son. We have more legos than should be legal, and I just let him keep them in his room. They never really get all the way picked up, and I am ok with that. I really try hard to not vacuum them up, but I make no promises. In my mind it is the best money ever spent!
