We were going through the McD's drive-through for me to get a free Sweet Tea with a coupon. D (age 3) really wanted something, but I told him it was just a drink for mommy today. So I ordered....

Mom: I'll have a large sweet tea and I have a coupon.

As we drove to the window...

David: I LOVE coupons!
Mom: (laughing) You do?
David: Yep. Well...I'll have to try them first.

He was so desperate to eat something from McD's that he was willing to try a "coupon".

T (age 5): I want Chinese Toast!

(That would be French Toast)

D: At bedtime I watch the sunrise down.

(That would be the sunset)

I had a CD playing, 25 Classical Favorites. Song #2 was Nutcracker Suite. When it came on the girls recognized it...

Mom: Anyone remember what this is from?
T: The Nutcracker!
Mom: That's right. And who composed the Nutcracker?
K: Tchaikovsky.
Mom: (Feeling rather smug that they remembered this piece, picturing them as classical music connisseurs)

Then the next one came on. It was Vivaldi's Four Season: Spring.

K: I know this one! It's Little Einstein's!

Smug Moment gone...

I have a three year old. And I love him dearly.

He was featured here last week and here we are again with some chit chat from D!

Everyday I listen to D tell me, "I need something to eat," or "I need something to drink," or "I need to watch a show". And my favorite is the just plain, "I need something".

The boy has lots of needs. And he will tell you his need over. and over. and over. until you address it.

The other day he must have run out of needs, but still needed something because he turned to me with a whine and said, "Mommy, I need something to tell you."

Oh, my D, I love you!

Three year olds are something else. They are a whirlwind of emotion and they bring a HUGE amount of joy!

This little three year old cracks me up all day long with his constant rambling about the world around him.

He made a foam design and told me that, "This is for Gelson for Father's Day on my birthday."

(Gelson is the little one year old we sponsor through World Vision)

The street sweeper came down our street. I was home with the boys so we went outside to see it.

D kept asking his little brother, C (1 year), "Wasn't that cool, C? Wasn't that cool?"

It was clear that he wanted to share in the moment with his little brother.

I wish pushing C in the stroller through the mall and D was walking along with us.

D suddenly stopped, stooped by the stroller and got eye level with C. He told me, "I have something important to say to C." Then he looked at C and said, "Look at me baby C. Look at me. I am your big brother."

Then he got up and began to walk along like normal. It was so adorable.

While driving through an intersection, we hit two bumps in the road. They aren't very big, but you can feel them.

D yelled out, "WHEEEE! I like that part. You got thump thump."

My son (age 3), who has never talked about time, asked me this morning, "What time is it?" I told him the time and he exclaimed, "I need to get downstairs."

Later he looked up at me and said, "Look! I have pockets!"

It was just cute to me because he has never noticed these things.
