Time Capsule

Like most teenagers, back in the day, I liked to roll down the windows and blast loud music.

I had a wonderful flashback to my sixteen year old self as I drove to dinner the other night. I was alone in the car and turned on, "Soul Sister", recently downloaded on my iPhone. I love the beginning of that song. The windows were down. The music was cranked. It was fabulous summer driving.

I felt like I was sixteen again.

Except for the fact I was blasting music out of a 1998 minivan with 4 empty carseats in the back.

But hey...

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Tiny Talk Tuesday helps parents focus on one of the many joys of parenting - the funny things that our little ones (and sometimes big ones) have to say.

Join in the fun and record the Tiny Talk overheard in your house! Publish a post on your blog and link us to the laughs. Then be sure to link to the blog carnival on this post so more bloggers can join in the fun.

The guidelines can be found here if you need them.

D (age 3) likes to pretend he is a cat. He told us, "This cat likes to swim".

Mommy likes the song, "Soul Sister" by Train and has a tendency to blast it in the car...so one night K (age 7) was singing it with her own words. She was singing to C (age 1) and said, "Hey Mr. Daniel..." to the tune of "Hey Soul Sister". D (age 3) busted out with, "NO! It's Hey Soul Sister."

(yes, mommy has been playing it a lot...)

D finally learned to get in the pool and enjoy the water! He was so thrilled with himself. He wears a vest and an inner tube, and boy does he have fun!

So, he was floating along on his own and he looked around at no one and said, "Yahoo!" to himself. It was so cute!

He is definitely proud of himself and we love seeing him have so much fun!

K (age 7) has FINALLY learned to shower on her own - washing all of the shampoo out of her hair without needing me to check it. She loves this new found skill and time alone, so she has taken to showering more than once in a day.

I came up to check on her and the whole upstairs smelled of her shampoo.

Mom: Wow, K. It smells nice up here.
K: That's because I used my secret trick.
Mom: (feeling a bit like it might be better NOT to know) What is the secret trick?
K: I can't tell you.
Mom: Oh.
K: Wanna know?
Mom: Sure.
K: I shampoo my hair THREE times.
Mom: Wow. That's why it smells so nice.

(SO CUTE! She is so excited about this ability. She just loves being "big")

D (age 3) likes to pretend that he is a cat. He plays this game on and off randomly at times. We were at my mom's and he saw a cat figurine on the fireplace mantle. He pointed to it and said, "That's me when I was a cat!"
____________________________________________

We love to swim at my mom's and we make a drippy droppy mess of water all over the ceramic floor in the screened porch as we walk from the pool to the bathroom. I was walking D into the house...

D (looking at the floor): It is messy. Who made all of this mess?

Then he looked down as I was unzipping his swim vest and saw all of the drips coming off of his vest.

D: (exclaiming!) It's me! I am making the mess!

T (age 5) planted sunflowers on the side of the house. She checks them daily and loves to see how tall they have grown...

T: Did you see my sunflowers, mom? They are like one foot tall now!
Mom: (looks around the corner) Wow T! They are bigger than that. I think they are probably around 2 and a half feet tall.
T: Woah!
Mom: I'll get you a ruler when we get home and you can measure them.
T: I'll need TWO rulers for that.

(Who is your math teacher, child? Oh wait...)

We went to the beach a few weeks ago…

This trip was unique because my parents AND my husband’s parents were able to join us! What a memorable experience! (EPCOT photos were previously posted)

One afternoon, tidal pools had formed along the beach. We walked and splashed in them for a long time!

Eric had a stonehedge screensaver on his computer screen. D (age 3) saw it...

D: Daddy, those are some big rocks.
Eric: They sure are.
D: We gotta knock those down!

D (age 3) was trying to carrying a heavy wood box down the stairs. He asked me to carry it..."This is heavy. My muscles are only little for a big job."
____________________________________________

D constantly says, "scue me. scue me. scue me."
Real Word: Excuse me. Excuse me. Excuse me.

(said with persistance of interupting anyway...)

I was at my brother's house. My daughters and I were in the kitchen with my niece. One of the boys began making noise in the other room.

My niece: Who's that?
Me: Oh it is C (11 months) in the other room.
Niece: You sure do have a lot of kids, Aunt Mary.

(only one more than her household...LOL)
