Tiny Talk Tuesday

Tiny Talk Tuesday helps parents focus on one of the many joys of parenting - the funny things that our little ones (and sometimes big ones) have to say.

Join in the fun and record the Tiny Talk overheard in your house! Publish a post on your blog and link us to the laughs. Then be sure to link to the blog carnival on this post so more bloggers can join in the fun.

The guidelines can be found here if you need them.

D (age 3) wakes up in the morning and immediately says, "I want to play rice!"

If we go out somewhere, on the way home, you can be sure D will say, "When we get home, then I can play rice."

What is this rice game?

A glass pyrex dish that has been filled with uncooked rice and all of his matchbox construction vehicles. He digs and dumps rice all day long.

(yes, we began with salt...very messy. rice works better)

I bought some small beans tonight. I hope it will be less messy than the rice.

We use unpopped popcorn seeds at our house for that kind of fun. But I think beans might be even better. What fun!!!

I have a plastic shoebox filled with rice and another filled with beans... all I got free with coupons;)I have them play on a blanket and use a set of measuring cups from the Dollar Store:)

It will keep mine playing for hours... especially when it's seen as a special toy and only taken out during "school time" or for a few hours on a rainy day:)

Glad he likes it so much! We've used all kinds of stuff (though more cooking than construction... :)- I get my ideas walking through the bulk food section of the grocery store!

Looks like you've got the blanket/towel thing figured out - though you might want to use a container with higher sides. Or just vacuum a lot... which I've got to do anyways!

Great idea. My friend does this when she has just a little bit of pasta/rice/oatmeal. She throws it in a bucket for kids to play in the "sand."

Finally remembered to link today!

I love this idea about playing in the rice! I am definitely going to try this with my 2 year-old. He'll have a blast with this. (And I'm sure my 4 year-old will have to play with it, too.) :)
