Cause you can't always get what you want

This little two year old headed out back because he wanted to play in the dirt.

This little two year old's mommy said, "Not right now."

(because his sisters were riding bikes out front and he had already had a good wipe down before his nap because of dirt. And let's not forget the baby in the Bjorn who I wanted to keep clean...*added for the men in my family who were harrassing me about letting my boy play in dirt. They felt his pain too deeply. They also thought it was taken this week when I don't have my older two...as if I am THAT updated on this blog...LOL)

This little two year old was not happy with his mommy's answer...

and he staged a protest.

Feeling defeated, he thought his protest cries might be heard more if he was in better proximity to his mommy.

So he began to protest while his mommy kept snapping pictures of him.

Because his experienced mommy knew that this two year old was quite fasinated with the camera and soon his interest in the camera would end his protest cries.

Well, until she breaks the news that he can't have the camera either...

He's got a break from his sisters, and you won't even go make some mid pies with him? Shame on you!

some day, he's not going to be too happy with you that you chronicled the whole thing. i love the term, "staging a protest." that's exactly what kids do, don't they?

love it!! every time my kids go in the backyard means I have to give them a bath... no matter what they end up in the dirt pile and for some reason my girls like to pour it on their heads.

The boy/camera fascination hasn't appeased in our house. Found Zachary in my bedroom taking pics with my camera yesterday - my lovely, lovely camera and the newer $300 lens.

that boy....

And the dirt thing - just give up now.

Seriously.

Wow, I didn't realize I wasn't the only one who both loved and dreaded the kids going outside because I know they're going to end up in the dirt pile. That or water--I'm confident they could find a way to get wet in the middle of the desert.
